Standard wheels and casters have a temperature range of 5°C to 45°C. Within this range our products work normally for their full working life. Else, the exotic temperature may damage the wheel, lower the load capacity, faster the aging processing or make the wheel more brittle. At such time, you should look for a specialized ones name high and low temperature casters.
High temperature usage
The high temperature casters are most used in food industry. They are for stainless steel trolley with shelves and baking trays to put in the oven. One cycle can be about 10 - 60 minutes in the oven then 10 - 20 cooling outside to replenish. 10 - 20, 30 cycles per day.

There are 3 heat resistant material that mainly used: Glass-filled nylon, Phenolic and Cast-iron. These specialized wheels use standard lithium complex grease which has excellent water resistance (24 hrs at 90°C), bearing retention and long life.
As temperatures increase, wheels become weaker, which lowers their load capacity and shortens their lifespan. It is therefore important that you specify the temperature and type of application before ordering a castor, to ensure that the appropriate wheel type is selected.
Low temperature usage
Below 5°C you must specify temperature of use at the time of ordering. The standard grease we use in our castors is a lithium complex grease. This has excellent water resistance, bearing retention and long life. However below 5°C it begins to stiffen quickly, and will soon freeze the bearings so that neither the castor swivels nor the wheel bearings revolve. If specified at the time of ordering, we use a special aeronautical grease which is a synthetic oil with a microgel thickener. This is compounded for use down to -30°C, and will need to be refreshed every 6 - 12 months, but will continue to work effectively in chilling rooms, freezing stores and outdoor winter use in northern countries where ordinary greases would be useless.
As the temperature becomes lower, the softer rubber and polyurethane treads on our wheels become less elastic. For example, the polyurethane used on the 'H' series slowly stiffens from +20°C down to -20°C, but then rapidly stiffens until at -50°C, when it becomes brittle.
As temperature goes below 5°C, nylon can become brittle (particularly if it is kept for long periods in the very dry air in freezing rooms). At such times we recommend glass filled nylon reinforced wheels, which can be used down to -30°C.
High and Low temperature wheel material analysis

1. Glass-filled nylon Caster
The base material is Nylon - could be PP or PA (PA is better) and reinforced with fiberglass. Stable temperature is 210°C. Nylon heat-resistant wheels can withstand temperatures higher than this but not for too long, typically 30 minutes at 230°C and 5 minutes at 260°C. If the material is good, the heat level can be increased by 20-30°C. Nylon Heat Resistant Wheels are also water, grease and heat resistant. Due to its great hardness and high heat resistance, the small size one will be difficult to make round (maybe slightly distorted). Because of processing at high temperature and then cooled, it will be difficult to determine. exact figure. In some cases, it is also necessary to grind to make the wheel more round. Heat-resistant glass-reinforced nylon is considered the most durable, good and stable material for toasters, steamers, and drying ovens.
The Glass-filled Nylon caster is also the best choice for low temperature. Stable is (-10 °C) or even (-20 °C) with good material.

2. Phenolic Casters
There are reasons that Phenolic cannot become the best choice of High and Low resistant material despite the fact that its ability to resist extreme heat and extreme cold and more affordable price than the above Glass-fill Nylon. Phenolic caster can be resist high temperature range from 100 – 300°C but Phenolic is more brittle than glass-filled nylon and it has a shorter life cycle but can go up to very high temperatures. Phenolic is a good choice for light duty industrial applications with very high temperatures such as ovens used for curing paint. The load capacity decreases from 125 kg at 100°C to 40 kg at 300°C therefore it is very important to ensure that the load capacity of the trolley fits within the appropriate temperature and load capacity.
Phenolic wheels (with special inorganic fillers and PTFE bushes) are preferred for extended periods up to 280°C assuming most of their life is spent outside the oven and for short periods up to 300°C. These have a thick cross section, but are more brittle than either nylon or ordinary grades of phenolic.
WARNING: Phenolic resin heat-resistant casters are not suitable for applications where heavy loads are required. Avoid using on uneven ground, rough road.
3. Cast-iron Casters
The Cast-iron Casters can sustain highest/ lowest temperature, longest and also are the most durable ones.. For temperatures that exceed 250°C a more exotic grease is required. For sustained high temperature use, we offer a range of cast iron wheeled castors used with high temperature grease.
Please note that cast iron is heavy, noisy.
The cast-iron wheel and may damage concrete floors and other floor surfaces.
Warning: Cast iron wheels absorb heat very well, so you need to avoid touching them every time the wheel is taken out of the oven.
